Previously on Trail Mix and Blue Ice.........we learned that in the '70's they had some really dull parties and we saw a variation of a pyramid scheme used to stock booze in a bar. Are the other nine couples actually taking advantage of the kind hearts and good nature of Mr and Mrs LoneRange01? Only time will tell so sit back and enjoy the rest of the story as we revisit those yester years of days gone by......
We find ourselves looking in on the Rangers just after Monday morning breakfast has ended and I am heading out the door for work when the wife says, are you going to stop by the liquor store? No I say not till Wednesday. Good she said I have a list for you, I know what we need, No she said with that stern voice I will have a list for you to use.....OK just give it to me before Wednesday. I get home that evening and as I walk by the den, where our bar is, I notice a trash can in the middle of the room. I go in and look and I see it is full of empty booze bottles. Wow, she's been a busy little beaver today I thought. I called (yelled) out for her, trying to get a rise out of her to see if she had poured the booze out or drank it all. It was kind of like playing with fire, but I was use to it by now......she come walking around the corner and into the room and looking me straight into the eyes said did you just yell at me? Oh, no never would I yell at you, I thought you were in the basement and I wanted you to know I was home.....She gave me that glare and just said that's twice in one week you've lucked out.....I smiled at her and with a grin she asked if I thought my luck would hold out for the rest of the week. I grinned back and said only time will tell. I asked her what she had planned for Saturday night and she just said if I tell you You'll just spill the beans, No I won't I said and she just replied forget it. She then asked are you ready for Friday night, No I haven't got all the fire works yet and she just reminded me not to go over board like I usually do when purchasing fireworks, I mean a man can never have too many fireworks can he......
Friday night we had all planned to have a Bar-B-Que for the kids and a fireworks show. I don't know if it was for the kids or more for us guys......Blowing up things is just a guy thing I guess....Any way Wednesday morning comes and as I'm starting out the door she says wait, here is the liquor list. She said now just get whats on the list, nothing more! and as she handed me the list saying nothing more she was shaking it at me as if she was saying Okey Dokey, just get what is not on this list and see what will happen. I just looked at her like a whipped puppy and said OK honey. All I thought to myself was this is her party, her week and her plan. And for once I am not in any trouble so why spoil a good thing, I was sort of going to get to sit back and watch two sets of fireworks go off this week end....For the rest of Wednesday and Thursday and Friday, my favorite song was Anticipation.....I got home with all that was on her list, plus the mixes and as strange as it was I even stopped by the grocery store and got a pack of food coloring. She wasn't home and I have to admit I was more than curious as to what the food coloring stuff was for. Now I am not saying I didn't trust my wife because I did, I just wanted a piece of mind about something. I quickly ran to both bathrooms and checked the medicine cabinets for any laxatives then I checked our night stands. Not finding anything, I decided on one last search so I check in the kitchen in the spice cabinet. Nothing was found, and I let out a sigh of relief. Just then she walked in, I swear she must have Esp because the first thing she said was did you find what you were looking for? Trying to think quickly I some how manage to get the question out No, do you know where the box of Matches are for the fireworks....She smiled at me and said that's three times this week and you only have four more days left......
All day Thursday was spent in preparation for Saturday night festivities. She made Trail Mix all day. And for those of you who do not kow about trail mix, There was an old guy I think named Yul Gibbons who invented granola bars then trail mix. It was quite the fad in the seventies. Take pretzels, popcorn, Cheerios, Oat Meal flakes Corn Chex cereal and Wheat Chex cereal some nuts and put it on a cookie sheet and sprinkle on the Trail Mix powder and bake for a little while. then cool nd serve t parties. some people made it and put it in sandwich bags for lunch and snacks at work...anyway she spent most of the day making it and Ice cubes. I get home and of course the house smells good I go strait to the kitchen where she is and the first thing I do is get me a hand full of trail mix andput it into my mouth. She turned and smacked me n the hand and said that was not fro me to eat. I looked at her and said we were not going to run out if I have a little, and she turned and said maybe not but if you do plan on sleeping with your eyes open. I swallowed what I had managed to already get and as i did I had a funny taste in mymouth. What did you put in the trail mix I asked, and she said just never you mind, it won't hurt you. I left the kitchen to change my close still tasting the trail mix. Damn I know what that flavor is, I just can't put my finger on it. Oh well,.....After I changed and came back down She asked if I would like to help, Now I'm thinking she is going to let me in on her plan so of course I will help you honey. Good she says check the ice cubes. I open the freeze and I am going to tell you I was impressed. I saw plain ice cubes and red ice cubes and blue ice cubes. In case you haven't figured it out the plain ice cubes looked like white ice cubes. We were going to have a party using red white and blue ice cubes for the fourth of July. How cool is that? I emptied the ice trays into the corresponding containers and refilled them. That's all she let me do, Oh, the disappointment that was going through my mind, being so close to finding out what she had planned for our guests yet so far away.....
To be continued.......Stay tuned for part 5 of The Conclusion of Trail Mix and Blue Ice Cubes......
